Can you believe that it is the last day of May already? 2016 is almost half over! May was an absolute whirlwind of a month for me with lots of ups and downs. While I think it is important to acknowledge the downs I also think it’s more important to focus on the ups! That is why I’ve decided to compile a list of my May Favorites. Every month I talk about a few of the things that I absolutely LOVED during the last 30 days. It’s a fun way to look back and think about all the things that make life worth living!
Me & the Bees Lemonade (formerly known as Bee Sweet Lemonade)
If you haven’t heard of Me & the Bees Lemonade then you have seriously been missing out! The lemonade company started by 11 year old Mikaila Ulmer and it is some of the best lemonade I have ever had.
There are 4 flavors: mint, iced tea, ginger, and prickly pear. I’ve only tried the mint and iced tea flavors but I look forward trying the other two. Mikaila developed the lemonade from her Grandmother’s recipe from the 1940s and uses honey instead of sugar to sweeten the drink.
I love this product not only because it’s delicious but because of the amazing story behind Mikaila’s company and all of the great work she’s doing helping to save the bees.
You can visit MeandtheBees.com to find out more about Mikaila’s story and to find out what stores near you are selling this great lemonade.
If you don’t live in or around Tulsa, OK then you might not know about Mayfest and the Blue Dome festival. They are one of my absolute favorite things about living in Tulsa, more specifically living in Tulsa in May.
They are both festivals that feature music, food, and most importantly artists. Mayfest has artists from all over the country and the Blue Dome festival showcases local artists.
I have been going to both of these festivals ever since I was a little girl and I continue to go to them because it’s so inspiring to see the passions of all kinds of people from all over the place. I especially love going to Blue Dome and supporting local artists and talking with them about their craft because it has been a dream of mine to have my own booth selling my own art. (Hopefully next year this dream will become a reality!)
Grace & Frankie is another one of Netflix’s original shows and like all the others, it does not disappoint. Season 2 premiered at the beginning of May and I recently flew through both seasons! (It wasn’t hard though. Each season is 13 episodes that are 35 minutes.)
I put off watching the show because the premise sounds a little ridiculous (two men leave their wives for each other and the wives develop an unlikely friendship) but they make it work. There’s a lot of heart, and a whole lot of jokes. It’s fantastic to see a female friendship (especially one of women in their 70s) portrayed so honestly on tv.
I can’t wait for season 3 to see what comes next.
So there they are! Some of my May Favorites. What are some of your favorite things from May? I’d love to hear about them!
