Every Friday, I like to feature a different artist and their work. Sometimes you’ll even see my own artwork featured. It’s a nice way to get to know different artists, their creative process, and the story behind some of their works of art.
It’s Friday Art Crawl!
This week’s artist is Madeleine Raiford-Holland, half of the Father-Daughter team that makes up Special Event Keys, a custom hotel key and luggage tag company based in Vidalia, Georgia.
Madeleine’s relationship with art started early when she began playing the piano at the age of 5. With a professional oil painter for a younger sister, Madeleine never really considered herself an artist but over the past few years, she has realized that art comes in all forms.
Madeleine and her father, Frank Raiford, started Special Events Keys by doing a couple of custom hotel keys for a friend’s wedding. They had a great response and decided to turn it into a business.
In addition to custom hotel keys Madeleine and her father also offer custom luggage tags made of durable plastic with a stainless steel clasp.
Check out what one of Madeleine’s customers had to say:
“These luggage tags came out so well and in very good time. I'm using these as a part of my "Will you be my bridesmaid?" package because all my friends live on the east coast, and my wedding is on the west coast where I live now.. so it's really perfect. Excellent quality and service.”
Madeleine enjoys designing new products for her customers so her luggage tags and hotel keys make great customizable gifts for any occasion.
“One of my favorite aspects of the creative process is working with customers on custom commissions. During the process of designing the customer's luggage tag or hotel room keys it really allows me to get to know the person behind the design and that is very rewarding. We work on the design completely digitally because we have customers all over the world. We have shipped our tags to customers on six different continents.”
Madeleine lives with her husband John, 3 cats, a dog, 31 chickens, and 4 Nigerian dwarf goats.
I hope you enjoyed this week’s Friday Art Crawl! Make sure you check out last week’s artist: Heather Skau.
Have a great weekend!
